John Deere Expands GreenStar™ AutoTrac™ Guidance Lineup

As more producers utilise satellite guidance technology on their vehicles to bring greater efficiency to their farming operations, John Deere continues to expand the line-up of guidance products by introducing GreenStar™ AutoTrac™ SF1.

"With the addition of AutoTrac™ SF1, customers have more choices to match this technology with their own vehicles, crop production plans, and techniques," says Kevin Platz, Product Development Manager, John Deere Limited. "AutoTrac™ SF1 offers an economical system with 33 centimetre (13 in.) pass-to-pass accuracy to help operators make consistent, straight passes through the field."

This new system is for broad-acre applications that do not require row-crop accuracy. There is no subscription fee for the StarFire™ SF1 differential correction signal. The system uses the three common components; the StarFire™ iTC SF1 receiver, the GreenStar™ display, and a mobile processor with an AutoTrac™ SF1 KeyCard. These components can be moved to any AutoTrac™-ready vehicle.

"When you buy the John Deere AutoTrac™ SF1 system, you also have the ability to upgrade to higher accuracy," explains Platz. "All AutoTrac™ systems use the same GreenStar™ components so, you only need to purchase additional software to update to AutoTrac™ SF2 which has 10 centimetre (4 in.) pass-to-pass accuracy."

John Deere also offers AutoTrac™ RTK which uses satellite and land-based differential correction for sub-2.5 centimetre accuracy. With the addition of AutoTrac™ SF1, customers will have a complete line of guidance products to choose from and can match accuracy and performance with their operational needs.

Raise Your Productivity with John Deere Wide Cut Mowing Systems

All John Deere Mower Conditioners feature a unique low profile cutterbar design providing excellent cutting and conditioning performance, and reduced maintenance requirements. Using a rotary disk design operators can cut at high ground speeds, through tough tangled crops and still achieve a clean cut. Furthermore the proven John Deere conditioning systems promote high quality forage and achieve faster dry down.

Building on these unique features and in response to the growing interest in wide cut mower conditioners several new products are now available for the 2005 season. John Deere now offers a Triple Mower Conditioner (TMC190) for 6010, 6050 or 7000 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters; the all-new tractor mounted 381 and 388 Twin Rear Mower Conditioners; and a range of unique Groupers for John Deere Side Pull and Centre Pivot Mower Conditioners to turn wide cuts into twin windrows with ease. All machines are designed to increase productivity, reduce working time and provide fast drying times.

The TMC190 attaches to the front of a John Deere Self Propelled Forage Harvester in place of the cutterhead assembly and is a combination of 3 x 131 Front Mower Conditioners mounted on a foldable main frame. The front mower is fast and easy to remove from the forage harvester – about two hours are required to swap from cutting to chopping and vice versa. The TMC190 features a 9 metre cutting width and is the perfect mower conditioner for contractors looking for extremely high productivity, high cutting quality, and easy transportation – as it folds quickly to under three metres.

The all-new 381 and 388 Twin Rear-Mounted Mower Conditioners feature two mowers fitted to one rear frame used in combination with a 131 Front Mounted Mower to achieve up to 8.8 m cuts of grass in a single pass. Requiring tractor PTO power of 120 kW (160hp) and 140 kW (190hp) respectively, the 381 and 388 Mower Conditioners are an exceptional John Deere wide mowing system with outstanding cutting quality, high working speed, high capacity, excellent flotation features and easy road transport.
Push productivity higher with the unique Grouper from John Deere. To be used with or without front mower conditioner, this implement lets the operator combine two normal windrows for more efficient harvesting of the conditioned crop. Double windrows significantly reduce the number of passes required and are perfectly matched to John Deere’s extensive range of high capacity harvesting equipment. Available as field installation kit, Groupers are designed to fit selected Side Pull and Centre Pivot Mower Conditioners.

All Mower Conditioners feature proven John Deere conditioning systems to promote high quality forage and achieve faster dry down. The free-swinging steel tynes of the impeller conditioning system are significantly stronger than plastic tynes and produce a fluffy windrow that allows for better air and sunlight penetration. Likewise the optional Urethane Rolls conditioning system, available on Side Pull and Centre Pivot Mower Conditioners, feature an intermittent recessed cleat design providing 21% more crimping edges than chevron rubber rolls. These urethane rolls thoroughly crimp the crop preserving the leaves and nutrients.
